Frequently asked

How is the Cherry MX Clear different from the MX Brown?

They share the same bump shape, but the Clear is meaningfully heavier and more pronounced. The Brown's bump is light enough to feel almost linear to many typists; the Clear's firmer 65g spring and stronger tactility make the bump unmistakable, which is exactly why people who find Browns too mushy tend to prefer Clears.

Do I need to lube Cherry MX Clears?

Stock they have the classic dry, slightly scratchy Cherry feel. A light hand-lube on the rails and springs cleans up the scratch and tames the spring ping without dulling the tactile bump. It's optional, but it's the single biggest quality-of-life improvement for this switch.

Are Cherry MX Clears good for gaming?

They work, but the heavy bump and 65g actuation make rapid double-taps more tiring than a linear would. They shine far more as a deliberate, fatigue- resistant typing switch than as a twitch-gaming switch.
