mutedFrequently asked
How is the MX2A Speed Silver different from the original MX version?
The MX2A revision keeps the same short-travel linear character but adds factory ring lubrication on the bottom housing, a diamond-polished stem and spring guidance, and a barrel-shaped stainless steel spring. The result is a noticeably smoother, quieter keystroke out of the box than older Cherry stock switches.
Is a 45g speed switch good for gaming?
Yes. With a 1.2mm pre-travel and a light 45g actuation, the Speed Silver registers presses earlier and with less effort than a standard linear, which is exactly what fast-paced gaming rewards. The short travel can feel twitchy for heavy typists, so it suits gamers and light, fast typists best.
Do these switches need lube or films?
Not really. The MX2A factory lubrication already takes the edge off, and Cherry's tight tolerances keep stem wobble low, so films add little. A light hand-lube on the springs is the only mod most people will notice.
