mutedFrequently asked
Is the HMX Butter fully silent?
It's a silenced tactile rather than a true linear silent. Mute pads on the top and bottom of the stem rail dampen both the upstroke and bottom-out, so it's noticeably quieter than a standard tactile while still giving you a defined tactile bump and a responsive stop at the bottom.
Does the HMX Butter come pre-lubed?
Yes. HMX applies its newer factory lubrication method, so the switches feel smooth out of the bag. Most people can run them stock; hand-lubing is optional and risks gumming up the silencing pads.
What spring weight does the HMX Butter use?
It ships with a 22mm KOS single-stage spring in two weightings — a lighter ~37g/42g and a heavier ~43g/50g actuation/bottom-out option. The lighter pairing keeps typing effortless; the heavier one adds a bit more resistance for typists who bottom out hard.
