thockyFrequently asked
How heavy is the HMX Caramel Pudding V2?
It's a light-to-medium linear, actuating around 37g and bottoming out near 45g. There's also a heavier variant rated 42g actuation and 53g bottom-out for typists who want more resistance under the finger.
Does it need lube out of the box?
No. It ships with HMX's newer precise factory lube — a thin 205g0 coat on the stem legs and rails, dry film on the spring and leaf, and a deliberately unlubed bottom housing and pole to avoid pooling. Most builders run it stock.
Why does it sound deeper than a typical linear?
The waffle-cut stem tip softens the bottom-out impact, trading some of the sharp top-end clack for a rounder, lower-pitched thock that suits the "pudding" name.
