Will the HMX Crystal work in a normal mechanical keyboard?
No. It is a magnetic Hall-effect switch that needs a compatible HE/magnetic PCB. Drop it into a regular hotswap board and it will not register.
Why pick a magnetic switch over a normal linear?
The big draws are adjustable actuation by travel distance and rapid-trigger style resets, which is why HE switches are popular for competitive gaming.
Is the actuation point really adjustable?
Yes. Because the board reads magnetic flux rather than a physical contact, you set the trigger point by distance traveled in your keyboard's software.
