Specs and Feel

Firecracker runs 2.5mm of pre-travel into a 3.5mm total stroke. The bump is the headline: a P-shaped profile that is heavy and clearly defined, sitting ahead of a 40g actuation, so you feel the tactility before the switch registers. Bottom-out lands at a firmer 58g. The POK stem in a P3 top and P6 bottom housing is responsible for the crisp, high-pitched clack. It is a brighter, sharper material than the POM HMX usually uses. Travel around the bump is smooth thanks to factory lube, and wobble is well controlled. This is a tactile that prioritizes a strong event and a rich, ringing sound over subtlety.

Tuning

Firecracker is good stock, and tactiles are easy to over-tune. The factory lube is sensibly applied; if you relube, keep it thin and avoid the contact leaf and the bump itself, or you will sand down the very thing that makes this switch fun. The travel rails can take a light 205g0 coat to clean up any minor scratch. Films are optional. If the high-pitched clack is too sharp for your taste, denser keycaps or a foamed case will tame it more effectively than any switch mod.

Verdict

Buy Firecracker if you want a strong, snappy tactile with a bright, clacky character. It is a good fit for anyone tired of weak, mushy bumps. If you prefer a gentler, rounder tactile, look at HMX Dune; if you want something even softer that flirts with linear, HMX Saru is the pick. For tactile character and pop, Firecracker earns its name.
