Martini actuates at 42g and bottoms out around 48g, a soft, gradual curve typical of HMX’s lighter lineup. The 3.8mm total travel is on the longer end, so presses feel deep and deliberate. An LY Nylon stem running in PA12 Nylon housing is the heart of why it sounds the way it does. Nylon-on-Nylon absorbs the higher frequencies, leaving a low, muted signature instead of a sharp clack. The 21mm single-stage spring keeps the return brisk without being springy. Factory lube is applied evenly, so smoothness out of the box is solid and there’s no meaningful scratch; stem wobble is controlled for a sub-30-cent switch.

Tuning

These are genuinely usable stock, which is the appeal at this price. If you want to push them, a light stem-rail lube and a fresh longer spring sharpen the return a touch, but the factory job already covers the basics. Films are optional and probably unnecessary given the housing tolerances. Dropping them in as-is is the sensible default.

Verdict

Buy the Martini if you want an inexpensive, smooth, deep-sounding light linear for typing. It sits very close to the HMX Hibiscus 42g (both are all-Nylon lights), with the Martini’s longer travel giving it a slightly fuller, more cushioned stroke. If you prefer a snappier short-travel feel, the Hibiscus edges it; otherwise the Martini is one of the better cheap calm linears around.
