Specs and Feel

Saru V2 has a 2.5mm pre-travel into an unusually short 2.9mm total stroke, with a 48g actuation and a 52g bottom-out, a narrow force range that contributes to the smooth, even feel. The modified POM stem in a full-nylon PA12 top and NA2 bottom housing keeps both the travel and the sound clean and semi-full. The bump is light and full rather than peaky, so it never snaps at you; instead you feel a continuous, soft tactility. HMX lubes this one thoroughly (all four stem sides, the contact leaf, and the bottom housing rails and stem support), and after a break-in the lube evens out and the feel smooths further. The sound is clacky but balanced and clean.

Tuning

Saru V2 arrives heavily and carefully lubed, so relubing it out of the box is not advised: you would likely undo HMX’s work and risk dulling the already-light bump. The better move is simply to break them in; the feel genuinely improves as the lube settles. If anything feels uneven after that, a tiny touch-up on the rails only is enough, kept well away from the contact leaf. Films are unnecessary given the snug nylon housings. This is a switch to use as intended rather than mod.

Verdict

Buy Saru V2 if you want a soft, full, almost-linear tactile and value a clean, balanced sound over a strong bump. It is a great crossover switch for linear users. If you want feedback you can really feel, this will disappoint you; reach for HMX Firecracker’s heavy P-bump or the medium HMX Dune instead. As a gentle, refined tactile, Saru V2 is distinctive and well executed.
