How it sounds
clackyFrequently asked
Is the HMX Snowfall a strong tactile switch?
It is a pronounced, sharp tactile rather than a heavy D-shaped bump. The short 3.0mm total travel pushes the bump high in the keystroke, so it reads as crisp and snappy more than rounded or scratchy.
Does the Snowfall need lube?
It ships factory-lubed and is smooth enough to type on out of the box. Most people can skip a hand-lube pass; if anything, the tactile event is best left untouched so you don't dampen the bump.
What makes the Snowfall sound the way it does?
The transparent PC top housing and modified nylon bottom give it a high-pitched, crisp tone with a sharp top-out. Short travel and a poppy bottom-out reinforce that bright character.
