HMX Sonja 45g

My take on the HMX Sonja 45g: a POM-stem linear with a deliberately textured top housing for a vintage scratch, plus a deep PA66 sound and 45g weight.

Frequently asked

Why does the Sonja feel scratchy?

That's by design. The top housing is textured on purpose to give a vintage, slightly scratchy stroke — it isn't a quality-control flaw.

Can I smooth it out with lube?

You can, but you'd be fighting the switch's intent. If you want glass-smooth, pick a different HMX linear; the Sonja is meant to have character.

What does it sound like?

Full PA66 housing with an extended spring gives it a deep, thocky tone that reads more vintage than crisp.
