Specs and Feel

This is a true silent tactile, not a rounded-off linear. Actuation sits at a comfortable 35g with a tactile event near the very top of the stroke (a tactile start around 0.1mm) and a peak tactile force around 53g, so the bump is noticeable but never aggressive. Pre-travel is 2.5mm with a total travel of 3.65mm, giving it a slightly shorter, more controlled feel than the MX standard. The 22mm spring and 48g bottom-out keep typing crisp rather than fatiguing.

The PA12 top and P4 bottom housing over a POM+TPE stem do most of the dampening. The silencing pads cushion the bottom-out without the wet, hollow sponge that ruins lesser silents. Factory lube means smoothness is excellent right away, with minimal scratch and well-controlled stem wobble. The bump is light enough that some tactile purists will find it subtle, which is exactly the trade HMX made to keep things quiet.

Tuning

There is little to fix here. The factory lube is clean and the dampening is already dialed in, so most builders should run these stock. If you crave a marginally heavier bottom-out, a spring swap is the only meaningful change; films are unnecessary given the already-tight housing fit.

Verdict

Buy the HMX Volume 0 if quiet is your top priority and you still want a hint of tactility. It is one of the better-executed silent tactiles around: genuinely muted, smooth out of the box, and free of the spongy feel that sinks the category. Tactile diehards who chase a sharp, pronounced bump should look elsewhere, but for a quiet daily driver this is an easy recommendation.
