Specs and Feel

The Round Brown actuates at 45g over a 1.3mm pre-travel with 3.2mm total travel — the short, shallow stroke that defines low-profile typing. The POM stem and stainless steel spring produce a tactile bump that is more defined and pleasant than the muddy event on the original Choc tactiles, and the round stem accepts low-profile MX-stem keycaps. It is not as glassy or as refined as a boutique full-height tactile, but within the low-profile category it sets the bar. The sound is moderate and a touch deep, in keeping with the slim housing.

Tuning

Choc switches are awkward to tune, but the Round Brown is good enough stock that most people will not bother. A thin lube on the rails will smooth the travel a little if you want to chase perfection. The more important consideration is upfront: verify your PCB supports the Choc Round footprint, because the centering peg and extra pin do not fit some popular split boards. Buying the right switch for your board matters more than any internal mod here.

Verdict

Buy the Choc Round Brown if you want the best tactile feel available in a true low-profile switch and your board supports the footprint — it is a genuine upgrade over standard browns and the old Choc tactiles. If your board uses the older flat Choc layout or you need maximum keycap clearance, double-check compatibility first or look at the original Choc Brown instead. When it fits, this is the low-profile tactile I would reach for.
