Specs and Feel

The Tacit actuates at 67g with 2.0mm of pre-travel and 3.8mm of total travel. The dampening comes from rubber bottom-out pads plus a rubberized section on the stem itself, which is what kills the noise on both ends of the stroke. A gold-plated spring keeps the return springy and ping-free, and the translucent housing supports SMD RGB. The V2 revision retooled the molds for a tighter housing fit, reworked the internal rubber, and cleaned up the stem — and you feel it: stem wobble is minimal and the bump is rounded and consistent rather than the mushy thud that plagues lesser silent tactiles. The tactile event sits high in the stroke, so you get clear feedback before the cushioned bottom-out. Smoothness is excellent for a silent switch, with very little of the leaf scratch that silents often suffer from.

Tuning

This is a leave-it-alone switch. The factory rubber tuning is the whole point, and adding lube risks dulling an already soft bump or muting the switch into nothingness. The housing fit is tight enough that films are unnecessary and could over-tighten the stem. If you find 67g a touch heavy, a lighter spring is the one swap worth considering, but it will reduce the force pushing into the dampers and can make bottom-out feel softer. My advice: board them as-is and enjoy not opening 70 switches.

Verdict

Buy the Tacit V2 if a quiet, high-quality tactile is your goal — it is a clear upgrade over the Durock Silent Shrimp it is based on, trading a little scratch and noise for a cleaner experience. Compared to Gazzew’s Boba U4 silent, the Tacit is smoother and a bit more refined, though the U4 has a rounder, deeper bump. If you want silent linears instead, look elsewhere, but for silent tactile this is as good as it gets near a dollar a switch.
