Keygeek Ashes R2

My review of the Keygeek Ashes R2 — a Moyu-designed UPE-blend linear with a spherical sound-muffling bottom mold, factory lube and a choice of 42g or 52g weighting.

Frequently asked

Which weight should I pick, 42g or 52g?

42g for fast, low-effort typing and gaming; 52g if you like more resistance and fewer mispresses. Both share the same smooth UPE feel and muffled sound — it's purely a weighting preference.

Why does it sound so muffled?

Keygeek's spherical bottom mold is shaped to absorb and round off the bottom-out, so instead of a sharp clack you get a softer, deeper note without the switch being silent.

Do I need to lube these?

No. They're factory-lubed and the UPE-blend stem is naturally slick, so they're glassy out of the bag. Lubing is optional polish at most.
