thockyFrequently asked
Is the Keygeek Butterfly a quiet switch?
Yes. The dual-spherical contact geometry and rounded bottom-out make it one of the quieter standard linears, with a deep, muted thock rather than a sharp clack. It is not a dedicated silent switch, but it reads as noticeably calmer than most stock linears.
What does the dual-spherical design actually do?
The stem tip is spherical and it meets a matching spherical contact point on the bottom housing. Reducing the flat-on-flat impact softens and deepens the bottom-out, which is the main reason the Butterfly sounds rounded rather than crisp.
Does the Butterfly need lube out of the box?
No. It ships factory lubed and feels smooth as-is, so most builders can use it stock. A light hand-lube on the springs is the only tweak worth considering if you want to chase the last bit of refinement.
