Smoothness is excellent — among the best in this price range — and the short travel makes the thocky bottom-out arrive quickly.

There is little reason to open these up. The UPE stem is self-lubricating and they come factory lubed, so the creamy glide is built in, and a heavy hand lube would only risk muddying the clean thock. If anything pings, a light spring lube settles it. Films are unnecessary and would push the already-deep sound more muted.
