Specs and Feel

Both versions share 2.0mm of pre-travel and 3.8mm of total travel. The 45g runs a 21mm spring (35g actuation, 45g bottom-out); the 53g runs a 17mm spring (42g actuation, 53g bottom-out). The POM top and N4 bottom housing pair with the U4+ stem to give a smooth, almost glassy downstroke — scratch is minimal and the flat stem tip lands with a soft, full bottom-out rather than a hard tick. Wobble is tidy in both directions. The sound is where the “balanced” label earns its keep: the UPE stem tip would normally push deep, but the POM top adds enough body that the result reads as a rounded medium-thocky rather than a muffled thud.

Tuning

This is a good stock switch — the factory lube is applied well and the housing does not ping much. If you want to fine-tune, the easiest lever is the spring: drop the lighter 45g spring into the 53g housing (or vice versa) to find your sweet spot. A light bag-lube on the springs cleans up any residual ping. I would not bother re-lubing the rails; the U4+ stem is already smooth and over-lubing flattens the snap.

Verdict

Buy the Muse if you want a full, balanced linear that is enjoyable straight from the bag — it is one of the more forgiving UPE switches to live with day to day. If you specifically want the deepest possible thock, the Keygeek Sanglei leans further into that concentrated, deep signature; if you want a lighter, snappier feel, the Mirror Lake R2 is brighter and cheaper. The Muse splits the difference and does it well.
