The Y1 stem rides smoothly in the nylon and PBT housings thanks to the factory lube; scratch is low and wobble is controlled. The material pairing is the sound story here: nylon up top and PBT below both absorb high frequencies, which is why the Y1 reads as genuinely deep and thocky.

Tuning

This is a good stock switch and the factory lube is doing its job. Because the deep sound comes from the housing materials, I would not re-lube them — added lube would only muffle the clean thock. Spring lube is the safe, high-value tweak if you notice any ping. No films required. If you want it lighter, a spring swap is easier than any other mod, but the 48g weight is a comfortable middle for most people.

Verdict

Buy the Y1 48g if you want a deep, medium-weight linear that works out of the bag — it is a cheaper, firmer-landing alternative to lighter Keygeek deep linears like the Sanglei. If you prefer a longer, floatier bottom-out, look to a switch with a wider force gap; the Y1’s appeal is its firm, immediate, thocky landing. For a budget deep board, it earns its spot.
