The M3 stem rides cleanly in the matched PA66 nylon housings; the factory lube keeps scratch low and wobble is well controlled. Tuning

This is an excellent stock switch and does not ask to be modded. The thock comes from the all-nylon housings, so re-lubing them would only blunt it — leave them alone. If you want to chase perfection, a light bag-lube on the springs removes any ping. No films needed. A spring swap is the only mod I would consider, and only if you want a different weight; the smoothness and sound are already there.

Verdict

Buy the Y3 48g if you want a deep, smooth, thocky linear that needs nothing out of the bag — it is a step up in sound character from the nylon-and-PBT Y1, with the all-nylon housing pushing the thock a little fuller and rounder. Against the lighter Sanglei it trades some of that concentrated low end for a firmer, more standard-travel feel. For a budget thock board, the Y3 is a standout.
