Pre-travel sits around 1.8mm and total travel at 3.5mm — slightly shorter than the 4.0mm norm, so you reach the floor a bit sooner and the board feels a touch snappier. The big story is the POM-on-POM construction: both the housing and the stem use polyoxymethylene, which is naturally self-lubricating and acoustically soft. That’s what gives the Laurel its marbly, thocky character — the impact is rounded and low rather than sharp. Factory lube smooths out any residual scratch, and the 22mm spring keeps the return brisk despite the light weighting. Wobble is reasonable, though full-POM switches can occasionally feel slightly looser than nylon-housed alternatives.

Tuning

The factory lube plus self-lubricating POM means these are smooth stock and need little intervention. If you want to deepen the sound even further, films will tighten the housing and remove any hollow notes. A light spring lube cleans up any ping. But for most builds, the Laurel is happiest run as-is — over-lubing POM can actually mute it too far.

Verdict

Buy the Laurel if you want a short-travel, deep-sounding budget linear with that signature POM marbliness. It’s warmer and quicker than the standard-travel KTT Cabbage Tofu, and lighter than the KTT Orange. If you specifically want thock without spending on boutique switches, the Laurel is one of KTT’s better-sounding budget options.
