Specs and Feel

This is a standard MX linear, but the factory lube is the whole story. The Krytox 205g0 application is even and generous, which all but eliminates scratch and gives the stroke that signature silk glide the series is named for. Stem wobble is well-controlled, and the housings are toleranced tightly enough that the smoothness doesn’t come at the cost of a sloppy feel. Sound sits in a clean, slightly deeper register — the lube damps high-frequency scratch and ping, leaving a fuller, more refined note rather than a sharp clack.

Tuning

The point of the Silk series is that you don’t have to tune it. The factory 205g0 job is good enough that hand-lubing offers diminishing returns — you’d be chasing single-digit-percent gains. If you’re meticulous, a light spring lube removes any remaining ping, but for almost everyone this is a mount-and-type switch. That’s the entire value proposition.

Verdict

Buy the Awaken if you want elite stock smoothness and would rather not lube a board by hand. It’s a fantastic default for a first build or a quick swap. If you specifically want a deeper, more characterful sound you may prefer the Alexotos Granite, and if you like this formula in a different colorway, the NK Silk Olivia is its sibling — same smoothness, different look.
