Tuning

As with most Hall-effect switches, leave them mechanically stock — lube near the magnet and sensor path risks throwing off readings and isn’t worth it. The meaningful adjustments are in firmware: set your actuation depth, configure rapid trigger, and tune dead zones to taste. If a spring ping bothers you, a careful spring-only lube is the one safe tweak. Otherwise these are plug-and-play.

Verdict

Buy the KTEK New Star if you have a magnetic/HE keyboard and want the lightest, fastest budget linear you can get with software-tunable actuation. Skip it for any standard mechanical board. Against TTC’s Snow and Flip King HE switches, the New Star matches the 32g lightness of the Snow but is the cheapest of the trio — pick it when value and a feathery press are the priorities.
