Specs and Feel

Specs: 41g actuation, 50g bottom-out, 2.0mm pre-travel, 3.8mm total travel, on a lengthened 21.5mm spring. The longer spring and a long track in the top housing — paired with a lengthened 6.0mm core slider — keep the press exceptionally consistent and stable, with low wobble. A POM stem in a POM top and polycarbonate bottom housing gives a rounded, medium-thocky tone. Factory lube means smoothness is excellent out of the box. The standout is the light condenser prism, which makes backlit and side-print legends look noticeably crisper. One practical note: some shipments arrive in zip bags, so check for bent pins before installing.

Tuning

The Neptune is good enough stock that tuning is optional. If you want the last bit of refinement, a thin lube on the rails and a touch on the spring smooths the already-clean stroke and heads off any ping. The low wobble means films add little. Keep lube light given the soft 41g spring so the switch keeps its quick, airy feel. Straighten any bent pins before seating PCB-mount switches.

Verdict

Buy the Neptune if you want a smooth, light linear that makes a backlit board look its best — the prism is a real, useful feature, not a gimmick. Against TTC’s Flame Red, the Neptune is the more refined, stable switch with better legend lighting, while the Flame Red leans into raw RGB brightness. For shine-through keycaps and a clean thock, the Neptune is my pick.
