The nylon-forward housing rounds off brightness, so the switch reads thocky and full rather than clacky — deeper than a typical linear but, as the name’s “gold” suggests, not as muted as the darker Arowana variants. HMX’s manufacturing shows in the feel: glassy-smooth travel and very low stem wobble straight from the box.

Tuning

This is a switch you buy to run stock. The HMX factory lube is excellent and the tolerances are tight, so there’s little upside to re-lubing — you’d more likely make it worse. If you want a different character, springs are the lever: a heavier spring firms the press, a longer two-stage adds a snappier return. Films are unnecessary given how planted the stem already is.

Verdict

Buy the Arowana Gold if you want a deep, rounded linear with premium smoothness and zero setup. It’s a versatile daily switch that sounds richer than its price suggests. Against the Wuque WS Morandi — which leans even deeper thanks to its full-POM housing and pole bottom-out — the Gold is the slightly brighter, more balanced of the two; pick it when you want depth without going fully dark.
