Tuning

These are excellent stock, which is the whole appeal of a good HMX switch. The factory lube is well applied and the housing tolerances don’t leave much to fix, so films are unnecessary. If you want to lean further into the full, lower-clack character, a slightly heavier aftermarket spring will deepen the bottom-out, but most people should run them exactly as they arrive.

Verdict

Buy the Red Arowana if you want a clacky linear with restraint — bright and poppy, but full enough to avoid sounding cheap. Against the yellow Arowana it’s the more balanced, less piercing option; against something like a Gateron Oil King it’s brighter and snappier where the Oil King is deep and creamy. For a clean, lively HMX board with character, it’s an easy recommendation.
