Specs and Feel

The headline is the material pairing: a UHMWPE stem and polished nylon bottom housing create exceptionally low friction, so there’s effectively no scratch anywhere in the stroke. A 60g bottom-out and gold-plated spring give it a firm, grounded feel that never goes pingy. The PC top over a nylon bottom rounds the sound into deep, medium-thocky territory rather than a bright clack. Crucially, the Pearlio uses Gateron’s CAP-series design, which braces the stem for reduced wobble and — more importantly — reworks the bottom pole so lube no longer pools where it can’t help. The result is a switch that’s both stable and exceptionally lube-friendly.

Tuning

It’s superb stock, so don’t feel obligated to open these up. That said, the CAP-series design makes the Pearlio one of the more rewarding switches to hand- lube: because the bottom pole no longer traps oil, a careful 205g0 application clings to the rails where it matters and pushes the smoothness from excellent to frictionless. Films are unnecessary given the stabilised stem. Leave the spring alone — the 60g weight is well matched to the deep sound.

Verdict

Buy the Pearlio if smoothness is your single highest priority and you want a firm, deep-sounding linear to back it up. It’s in the same conversation as Gateron’s Oil King — both are creamy, deep, and silky — but the UHMWPE stem gives the Pearlio an edge in raw glassiness, while the Oil King leans slightly warmer. For a flagship- feeling linear that’s still affordable per switch, it’s an easy recommendation.
