Does the Gateron Apollo work in a regular mechanical keyboard?
No. The Apollo is a magnetic Hall-effect switch and needs a compatible magnetic PCB. It will not register on a standard mechanical board, and even some Hall-effect boards may not read it correctly due to manufacturing tolerances.
What does the magnetic design actually change?
Instead of a physical metal contact, the switch reports its position via a magnet and a sensor. That removes contact bounce and chatter entirely and lets a compatible board offer adjustable actuation, rapid trigger, and per-key travel tuning.
