Actuation lands at 80g with 2.30mm of pre-travel and 4.00mm of total travel, so there is a real wall to push through before the click releases. The added weight changes the whole character. Keypresses feel planted and intentional rather than skittish, and accidental actuations are much harder to trigger.

The polycarbonate top housing and nylon bottom give it a slightly rounded, fuller click compared to all-nylon clickies, while the POM stem keeps travel reasonably smooth between the clicks. Stem wobble is modest and typical for a Gateron plate-mount switch, present if you go looking for it but not distracting in typing. There is faint stock scratchiness on the downstroke that the click largely masks.

Tuning

Clicky switches resist conventional tuning: do not lube the click-jacket or the slider rails, or you will smother the very thing you bought the switch for. The most worthwhile mod is a light dab of dielectric grease on the springs to tame ping from the heavy coils, plus switch films if your housings rattle. Otherwise, run them stock.

The Gateron Green 80g is a deliberate, niche switch. Buy it if you want a loud, heavy, classic-blue typing experience and the spring weight to match. Light-fingered typists and anyone in a shared space should skip it. For heavy typists who want a crisp click with real resistance behind it, it does what it promises.
