Are the Gateron Khonsu switches lubed from the factory?
Khonsu is sold in both lubed and unlubed versions. The factory-lubed option treats the leaf, spring, stem legs, and front and back of the stem, so it's effectively ready to use out of the bag. The unlubed version is the better pick if you prefer to tune the smoothness and sound yourself.
What makes the Khonsu sound so clacky?
The full modified-POM construction — top housing, bottom housing, and stem — paired with a firm rail bottom-out gives Khonsu its crisp, sharp clack. POM-on-POM tends to read poppier and higher-pitched than nylon, which is where the characteristic edge comes from.
Are Khonsu switches a good fit for a standard hot-swap board?
Yes. They use a standard MX 5-pin PCB-mount design, so they drop into both 5-pin and 3-pin hot-swap sockets and work with any MX-compatible keycaps.
