mutedFrequently asked
Is the Gateron Magnetic Genty a Hall Effect switch?
Yes. It's a magnetic Hall Effect linear, so it needs an HE-compatible board to read the analog magnetic signal. It will not work in a standard mechanical PCB wired for metal-contact switches.
What makes the Genty "semi-silent"?
Silicone mute pads sit on the top housing where the stem makes contact on the upstroke, damping the top-out clack. The downstroke bottom-out is still audible, so it quiets the return rather than fully silencing the switch.
Can I adjust the actuation point on the Genty?
On an analog HE board, yes. The switch ships with a free-setting pre-travel, so you set actuation and rapid-trigger behavior in your keyboard's software rather than relying on a fixed mechanical point.
