Will the Gateron Magnetic Jade Sapphire work in a regular mechanical keyboard?
No. This is a magnetic Hall Effect switch that needs a board with magnetic sensors. It won't register in a standard MX-style keyboard, and because of manufacturing tolerances it may not even play nicely with every Hall Effect board — check your board's compatibility list first.
What does the adjustable actuation point actually do?
Instead of firing at a fixed mechanical contact, the Jade Sapphire reports how far the stem has traveled, so your board's firmware lets you set the actuation depth anywhere in the stroke. You can run it featherlight for twitch reactions or deeper to avoid accidental presses.
Does it need lubing or filming?
No. It ships factory lubed and the magnetic mechanism has no metal leaf to scratch, so it's smooth out of the box. Filming is generally pointless on a Hall Effect switch and isn't worth the effort here.
