How it sounds
Frequently asked
Is the Gateron Milky Clear 35g too light for daily typing?
At 35g of actuation force it sits among the lightest mainstream linears, so it favors fast, glancing keypresses over deliberate ones. Heavy-handed typists may bottom out and trigger accidental keys at first, but most adapt within a few sessions and end up appreciating the reduced finger fatigue.
Does the milky nylon housing change the sound?
Yes. The nylon top and bottom housings give the switch a deeper, more muted, slightly clacky signature compared with polycarbonate housings, which tend to ring higher and sharper. It is a warmer, rounder sound out of the box.
Do these switches need lube?
They are usable stock, but a light hand-lube on the rails and springs removes the faint spring crunch and lifts the smoothness noticeably. For a 35g switch this small amount of work pays off well.
