Will the Gateron Orchid work in a standard mechanical keyboard?
No. The Orchid is a Hall Effect switch that uses magnets and sensors rather than physical contacts, so it requires a magnetic/HE-compatible PCB. Because of manufacturing tolerances it may also not drop into every Hall Effect board, so confirm your keyboard's switch support first.
Why is the actuation point adjustable?
The sensor reads the magnet's position by distance traveled rather than a fixed contact point, so compatible boards let you set actuation anywhere in the stroke — shallow for rapid-fire gaming, deeper to avoid mistypes.
